Information:
Son of Sir James and Lady Barr, of Otterspool Bank, Aigburth Vale, Liverpool. Commissioned on 6th June 1906 he served as adjutant in the South Irish Horse. Prior to the war he was farming at Imparura in the Headlands district. Served with the 3rd Hussars and killed on 23rd February 1915. He was believed to have been buried in the Hooge Crater Cemetery and his special memorial headstone bears the epitaph "He died gloriously and gallantly for his country and humanity". His parents were Sir James and Lady Barr. Sir James was a physician who later in his career caused much controversy following an inspection of Irish prisons. On Macheke War Memorial. ref.
