We'll need to capture most of the casualties on this list.
Some have been collected up already, most haven't. The details are scarce
at the moment, so If anyone has any extra details (Full names, Ranks,
Dates of death, Cemetery where buried or photos, etc.) please do not hesitate
to contact us. This listing is always a work in progress and depends increasingly
on the families of the fallen and the veterans.

Died when the vehicle he was driving struck an anti-tank mine while
on patrol in Afghanistan |
Born and raised in South Africa, and joined the British Army in
July 2003, and the 29th Commando Regiment in June 2004, the latter
unit being the Plymouth-based regiment that serves as the Close Support
Artillery Regiment to 3 Commando Brigade, Royal Marines. Dwyer, known
as “Doobs” to his friends and colleagues, was described as a “professionally
outstanding soldier” and was imbued with an “infectious sense of humour”.
Lance-Bombardier Dwyer, who was extremely popular with the regiment,
was the first South African soldier serving in the British Armed Forces
to be killed in Afghanistan, when his vehicle hit an anti-tank mine
during a mission in the desert, south of Garmsir, on the 27 December
2006. |

Killed when the Lightning crashed on approach into Bentwaters. Suffered
a double engine/reheat fire, had tried to eject but the canopy failed
to release and attempted a forced landing into Bentwaters. Unfortunately
he was unable to make the runway and the almost copybook landing into
a ploughed field was enough to cause the canopy to detach and the
ejection sequence to commence. Regrettably the seat required both
height and forward speed to enable to parachute to deploy. |
